Top Quality Home Improvement is headquartered at 9501 Rambling Creek Way in Heiskell, in the northern part of the county near the Anderson County line. From there, owner Adam Galante and our crew head out to city neighborhoods, suburban streets and rural roads all across Knox County. We bring over 20 years of experience, a Tennessee contractor license (LIC #11362 TN) and full insurance to every job, whether it is a single patched ceiling or a gutted kitchen.

Because we handle drywall, painting, flooring, remodeling, decks, fencing, trim, cabinetry installation and selective demolition ourselves, a project that crosses several trades does not have to be split among separate crews. You get one written estimate and one team from start to finish.

How homes differ from one corner of the county to another

Knox County is large enough that the housing changes noticeably as you drive across it, and those differences shape what a project involves.

Older homes in and around Knoxville

Houses closer to downtown often have plaster walls, original hardwood that has been sanded more than once, and window and door trim buried under decades of paint. Updating them usually means careful repair work instead of tearing everything out. See our Knoxville page for more on city projects.

Suburban west and northwest

Farragut, Hardin Valley and Karns include many newer subdivisions. Homeowners there tend to replace builder-grade carpet and paint, upgrade kitchens and baths, and add decks or privacy fences, often with a homeowners association reviewing the plans first.

The north and northeast

Powell, Halls Crossroads, Heiskell, Gibbs, Corryton and Mascot mix established neighborhoods with larger rural lots. Detached garages, workshops and sloped backyards are common, which means more requests for drywall in outbuildings, decks built on grade changes, and fencing around bigger yards.

South of the river and near the lake

Concord sits near Fort Loudoun Lake, and Kimberlin Heights is close to the French Broad River in south Knox County. Water views invite outdoor living projects, while nearby water and damp soil make moisture control a bigger part of any basement or flooring plan.

Practical points before you start

  • Which codes office applies. Inside Knoxville or Farragut, the municipal government reviews building work; elsewhere, Knox County does. We tell you during the estimate whether a permit is likely and whether any specialty trade is needed.
  • Humidity and below-grade spaces. East Tennessee summers are humid, and basements and crawlspaces show it. Before installing flooring or finishing a lower level, we look for signs of moisture so the new materials are chosen to suit the conditions.
  • Sloped lots. Hillside yards are common across the county. Deck footings, stair runs and fence lines all need planning around the grade.
  • HOA approval. In planned neighborhoods, fences, decks and exterior color changes may need sign-off before work begins. Get that request in early.

  • Concord: southwest Knox County, near Fort Loudoun Lake
  • Hardin Valley: northwest Knox County subdivisions and growing families
  • Karns: west Knox County, a blend of older ranch homes and newer builds
  • Powell: north Knox County, established and newer neighborhoods
  • Halls Crossroads: north Knox County, family homes on a range of lot sizes
  • Heiskell: our home base near the Anderson County line

Questions From Knox County Homeowners

Which parts of Knox County do you cover?

We work throughout the county, including Knoxville, Farragut, Concord, Hardin Valley, Karns, Powell, Halls Crossroads, Heiskell, Gibbs, Corryton, Mascot and Kimberlin Heights. If your community is not on that list, call 865-279-0501 and ask; chances are we already work nearby.

How do I know whether the city or the county reviews my permit?

It depends on where your property sits. Addresses inside Knoxville or Farragut fall under those governments, while unincorporated areas fall under Knox County. When we prepare your estimate we explain whether the project is likely to need a permit and which office handles it.

Can one contractor really handle drywall, flooring, paint and a deck?

Yes. Those are all services our team provides, so a project that touches several trades stays under one schedule and one point of contact. If a job needs a licensed electrician or plumber, we tell you upfront rather than surprising you mid-project.

Do you work outside Knox County?

We also serve Anderson, Blount and Union counties. Our Heiskell office sits close to the Anderson County line, so Oak Ridge and Clinton are a regular part of our week.

Always on time, well supervised, and they move very fast! If you’re worried about paying by the hour, do not. I am so glad I found Adam and his crew.
